As philanthropist and fundraiser George Pillsbury pointed out, “Although money cannot buy social change, no significant change can happen without it.” The Harm Reduction Action Center (HRAC) heartily agrees. The HRAC continues society's goal to reach the most marginalized, to create community where there is not, and to help the most lost find a direction home. We hope you will join us in our efforts.
Like many area non profit organizations, the HRAC has challenges to meet its basic operating needs such as rent, harm reduction/wound care supplies, syringe disposal bins/pick-up and staff salaries. Funding challenges are exaggerated in gaining support largely due to societies stigma of serving IDU clients without requiring abstinence from substance use.
Your generous support can help the HRAC reach community members afflicted with or affected by injection drug use. With your help, we can improve both the health of the individual and public at large.
A $25 donation buys 10 wound care kits for clients to utilize for abscess & bacterial infections maintenance.
A $50 donation provides basic need hygiene items to 30 clients a week.
A $100 donation serves nutritous and well-balanced meals for 60 clients a week.
A $150 donation weekly provides 50 legal harm reduction kits & outreach activities to access IDUs that are socially isolated and wary of social service agencies.
A $250 donation underwrites the cost of proper syringe disposal for community members (pick-up and removal for 2,000 syringes a month).
